Copy.ai Review and Pricing (2026)
Copy.ai pricing read from copy.ai/prices on 2026-10-21: Chat $29/mo for 5 seats, then Growth at $12,000/yr. Plus the help-center fine print and a hands-on test of its free ad-copy tools: 1 usable ad from 7 runs.
Prices and limits last verified against the vendor on 2026-10-21.
Copy.ai is now two products at very different prices: a $29-a-month chat plan for up to five people, and annual GTM workflow platforms from $12,000 a year. This page is the price sheet and the evaluation in one. Every price below was read from copy.ai/prices on 2026-10-21, logged out, in USD. The fine print comes from Copy.ai's help center, which is now hosted at support.fullcast.com, and the hands-on section is our own test of Copy.ai's free ad-copy tools on the same day. If you've already decided to leave, the grouped shortlist of replacements is on Copy.ai alternatives.
Copy.ai Pricing at a Glance

| Growth | Not offered | $1,000/mo ($12,000/yr) | 75 | 20K | "Businesses harnessing AI for exponential growth" |

Source: copy.ai/prices, plan cards, read 2026-10-21. Chat has a monthly/annual toggle labelled "20% Saving". Growth, Expansion and Scale are shown only as monthly amounts billed yearly. Expansion and Scale cards lead to "Contact Accounts Team" rather than self-serve checkout.
What each plan lists:
- Chat: 5 seats, unlimited words in Chat, unlimited Chat projects, and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models.
- Growth, Expansion and Scale: unlimited words in Chat, plus the seat and workflow-credit allowances in the table.
- Enterprise: "all Advanced features" plus guided Jumpstart implementation, API access and bulk workflow runs, 20+ tech integrations, unlimited customisable workflows, a designated account and support team, and enterprise-grade security.
Three things matter more than the headline prices:
- There's a 34-times jump between the first two plans. Chat is $29 a month; Growth is $1,000 a month and only sold annually. A team of six can't buy a published plan for less than $12,000 a year.
- The cheapest seat is on the cheapest plan. Chat works out at $5.80 a seat billed monthly, or $4.80 billed annually, if you fill all five seats. Growth is $13.33 a seat if you fill all 75. The upper plans are priced for workflow credits, not seats.
- The annual plans pay for workflows, not writing. Every plan already includes unlimited words in Chat. What Growth and above add is workflow credits, the currency for Copy.ai's multi-step automations.
The Fine Print From Copy.ai's Help Center
Copy.ai's help center lives at support.fullcast.com, in a "copy.ai" section alongside Fullcast's own products. Most of its billing articles were published on 2026-02-05, and several are marked stale. This is what they say, as of 2026-10-21:
| Topic | What the help center says | Article |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | "There is no longer a free plan (we had to sunset it)." New users must buy "either our Chat plan or Agents plan". | Additional Pricing Questions (stale) |
| Bonus credits | "Each new account starts with 200 bonus credits. These credits never expire." | Workflow Credits |
| Credit pooling | The credit limit is for the entire workspace, not each user. | Workflow Credits |
| Rollover | Credits reset each month and don't roll over. | Workflow Credits |
| Test runs | "No, credits are not spent during Workflow test runs." | Workflow Credits |
| Premium actions | "Platinum Actions do cost more credits." | Workflow Credits |
| Refunds | 5-day money-back guarantee from the initial purchase; no refund if you've used the account in the same calendar month. | What is your refund policy? (stale) |
| Billing changes | Monthly to yearly is allowed; yearly to monthly requires contacting support. | Additional Pricing Questions (stale) |
| Cancelling | You lose access to projects and folders until you re-subscribe; they aren't deleted. | Additional Pricing Questions (stale) |
| Templates | "We discontinued supporting" Tools and Templates; replaced by Chat with a Prompt Library. | Where did Tools and Templates go? |
Two inconsistencies to know about before you buy:
- A plan that isn't on the pricing page. The help center's Pricing article (marked stale) lists an Agents plan at $249 a month for up to 10 seats, 10K workflow credits a month, and Content Agent Studio. It isn't on copy.ai/prices today, though the same help center still tells new users to buy "Chat or Agents". If you're a team of six to ten, ask Copy.ai whether Agents is still sold; it's the difference between $2,988 and $12,000 a year.
- An older plan name. The Workflow Credits article says credits "are built into our Advanced Plan. Advanced comes with 2000 credits per month." There's no Advanced plan on the pricing page, although the Enterprise card says it includes "all Advanced features". Treat the help center as partly out of date, and get credit allowances in writing.
The pricing page's navigation also shows a "Try for free" button. We didn't create an account, so we can't say what that leads to today; the help center says there's no free plan.
How We Evaluated Copy.ai
What we did, on 2026-10-21:
- Read copy.ai/prices, the homepage, and the help-center articles on pricing, credits, refunds, Chat, the prompt library, Content Agent Studio, Workflows, and the "Create Marketing Campaign Asset" action.
- Ran Copy.ai's free ad-copy tools seven times in a browser, with no account, and recorded the inputs, outputs, timings and errors.
- Read Copy.ai's public Trustpilot page.
What we didn't do: buy the Chat plan, a Growth seat or Enterprise, build a Workflow, or train a Content Agent. So this review doesn't grade the paid Chat plan's writing. Where we describe a paid feature, it's from Copy.ai's own documentation.
Hands-On: Copy.ai's Free Ad Tools, Run by Run
Copy.ai publishes about 70 free writing tools at copy.ai/tools. Each embeds a form powered by a Copy.ai Workflow, the same engine the Growth, Expansion and Scale plans sell credits for. That makes them the only part of Copy.ai you can test without paying, and a fair, if partial, look at how the engine handles ad work today.
We picked the four tools closest to ad copy and gave them all the same real product: the Allbirds Tree Runner, a men's everyday sneaker made with eucalyptus tree fiber. Allbirds wasn't involved in the test; we chose it because its product page is public and clearly written.
Ad Copy Generator (Google Ads): 4 runs, 4 failures
Copy.ai describes this tool as one that "scrapes a url, brainstorms relevance, and generates Google ad descriptions and headlines based on a persona". It takes a target URL, a persona and a keyword, and its results panel has slots for 4 descriptions and 15 headlines.
| Run (UTC, 2026-10-21) | Target URL | Persona and keyword | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 00:10:53 | allbirds.com/products/mens-tree-runners | Urban commuter in his 30s who walks 10,000 steps a day; "sustainable sneakers for men" | Failed after 53 s |
| 00:12:37 | Same | Same | Failed after 22 s |
| 00:12:45 | notion.com/product/calendar | Freelance designer juggling client meetings; "calendar app for freelancers" | Failed after 16 s |
| 00:14:54 | allbirds.com | Urban commuter who wants comfortable, sustainable shoes; "sustainable shoes" | Failed after 30 s |
Every run failed at the same place. The first step, scraping the page, worked: the run's output contained the Allbirds page title and meta description. The next step, an AI text action called brainstorm_url_relevance, stopped with the same message each time:
Action "{{brainstorm_url_relevance}}" Failed -- Error generating text.
The page itself showed only empty result slots and a "Run again" button. It didn't tell us anything had gone wrong. We only saw the error because we read the run's status from the network response.
Hook Generator: finished, but returned a prompt
We asked for three Facebook ad hooks for the Tree Runner in the tool's own three styles: Dry, Punchy and Bold. It finished in 7 seconds and returned this, which starts:
You are an expert copywriter specializing in Facebook ads. Your task is to generate three distinct hook options for a Facebook ad promoting the Allbirds Tree Runner sneaker. Each hook should cater to a specific style: Dry, Punchy, and Bold.
It goes on to define each style and ends with "Please provide the three hooks clearly labeled by their style." It contains no hooks. It's a well-written prompt for another AI to write the hooks.
Call to Action Generator: the same problem
We asked for a 2-to-3-word button CTA and a one-sentence CTA for buying the Tree Runner. It finished in 5 seconds and returned text that begins "Please use the following prompt to guide an AI large language model:", followed by a structured brief with a goal, length constraint and requirements for each CTA. Again, no CTAs.
AI Facebook Post Writer: the one that worked
We gave it the Tree Runner brief and asked for "a facebook ad primary text under 125 characters, plus a headline under 40 characters". In 5 seconds it returned:
Primary Text: Master city streets in eco-friendly comfort! 🌳 Allbirds Tree Runners are lightweight & breathable. Free shipping & returns!
Headline: Your New Favorite City Sneaker
The primary text is 123 characters, so it met the limit, and the headline is 30. It used only facts from our brief. Two flaws: it printed the primary text block twice, and it gave us one variant where an advertiser would usually want several. It's usable copy, roughly what a free general-purpose chatbot would produce.
What the test does and doesn't show
- It shows that on 2026-10-21, three of the four free ad-copy tools Copy.ai publishes didn't produce ad copy, and that the failures weren't visible on the page. That's consistent with a June 2025 Trustpilot review complaining that "all of the free AI tools have stopped working".
- It doesn't show how the paid Chat plan writes. Chat lets you choose OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini models, and its output depends on the model you pick and the prompt you write.
- It suggests where Copy.ai's attention is. Free ad tools that fail without saying so, or return prompts instead of copy, aren't being maintained as a way to win ad copywriters.
What Copy.ai Does Well
- The cheapest team chat on the market at 2 to 5 people. $29 a month for five seats with OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models is cheaper per seat than ChatGPT Business or Claude Team ($25 per seat billed monthly).
- Content Agent Studio for repeatable formats. The help center describes it as a "middle ground" between Chat and Workflows: you load at least three examples of good content, such as your best-performing ads, and it produces more in the same structure. Agents can be called from Workflows.
- Workflows that learn from a sample asset. The documented "Create Marketing Campaign Asset" action takes an asset name, a campaign overview and a past successful asset, with a "creative freedom" setting from Strictly to Loosely. Chain several and you get a set of assets for one campaign from one brief.
- GTM breadth. If your copy is part of account-based campaigns, prospecting or inbound lead handling, Copy.ai puts research, enrichment and writing in one place, with 2,000+ integrations claimed on its homepage.
- Credits that don't burn on testing. Test runs while building a workflow are free, per the help center, which lowers the cost of getting one right.
Where It Falls Short for Ad Copy
It doesn't connect to ad platforms
Nothing on copy.ai/prices or in the help-center articles we read connects Copy.ai to Meta, Google or TikTok ad accounts. Copy leaves Copy.ai as text. You paste it into Ads Manager, and you find out which variant won somewhere else.
The ad templates are gone
Copy.ai's old strength for advertisers was its library of ad templates. The help center says Tools and Templates were discontinued and replaced by a prompt library in Chat. That's flexible, but the work of knowing what a Google responsive search ad needs (15 headlines of up to 30 characters, for example) moves from the tool to you.
The pricing has a cliff
With no published plan between 5 and 75 seats, a growing team either splits across several Chat workspaces or signs a $12,000 annual contract. The stale Agents plan suggests Copy.ai once filled that gap; whether it still does is a sales conversation.
Support and billing complaints are common
Copy.ai's Trustpilot rating was 1.8 out of 5 ("Poor") on 2026-10-21. The most recent reviews, from 2025 and early 2026, describe slow or no replies from support, trouble cancelling, and charges after cancellation. A 2024 reviewer on an annual team contract wrote that the 5-day refund window left them "stuck in a 1-year contract at $1600+". These are individual reviews, not a measured rate, and happy customers are less likely to post. But together with the 5-day refund window and the rule against switching from yearly to monthly billing, they're a reason to start on monthly billing.
The documentation is partly out of date
The help center mentions an Agents plan and an Advanced plan that aren't on the pricing page, and several billing articles are flagged stale. For a product sold on credits whose value "depends on the complexity of the tasks performed", that makes it harder to predict what you'll pay.
Who Should Buy Copy.ai
- Teams of two to five that want a shared, multi-model chat and are happy to write their own prompts. At $29 a month, it's cheap enough to try for a month, billed monthly.
- Revenue teams that want one platform for prospecting, inbound and content, can commit to an annual contract, and will run their real workflows during evaluation to see credits used per run.
- Teams with a proven ad format they want to repeat at scale through Content Agent Studio, if Copy.ai confirms which plan includes it.
Who Shouldn't
- Performance marketers who need ad-format tools. Anyword ($49 a month) and Jasper ($69 per seat) are built around marketing copy, with performance predictions and named ad agents respectively.
- Teams of six to ten who can't get a quote for the Agents plan. Per-seat tools cost $250 to $512 a month for ten people at list price.
- Anyone who needs the copy launched and measured. Meta and Google generate ad text inside their own ad tools, and an agent such as Soku, which publishes this review, connects to the ad accounts themselves. The alternatives page covers both.
- Anyone whose reason for buying was the free tools. In our test, they mostly didn't work.
The Verdict
Copy.ai is no longer an ad copy tool that also does other things. It's a GTM workflow platform with a very cheap chat plan at the bottom. That cheap plan is genuinely good value for a small team that wants access to several AI models. Everything above it is priced for revenue organisations running automated workflows, and none of it reaches an ad account.
For ad copy, we'd test the Chat plan for one month on monthly billing, against the free chat apps your team may already pay for, and against the text generators built into Meta and Google. If Copy.ai doesn't clearly beat them on your own briefs, the Copy.ai alternatives page groups the options by what you need instead. For the head-to-head with its oldest rival, see Jasper vs Copy.ai, and for ad-first writing tools, Anyword alternatives and Jasper alternatives.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Copy.ai cost in 2026?
Copy.ai's pricing page listed four self-serve and annual plans on 2026-10-21. Chat is $29 a month billed monthly, or $24 a month billed $288 a year, for up to 5 seats with unlimited words in Chat and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models. Growth is $1,000 a month billed $12,000 a year for 75 seats and 20K workflow credits a month. Expansion is $2,000 a month billed $24,000 a year (150 seats, 45K credits). Scale is $3,000 a month billed $36,000 a year (200 seats, 75K credits). Enterprise is custom. All prices are in USD.
Does Copy.ai have a free plan?
No. Copy.ai's help center says "there is no longer a free plan (we had to sunset it)", and that new users need to buy the Chat plan or the Agents plan. Its workflow-credits article says each new account starts with 200 bonus credits that never expire. Separately, Copy.ai still runs free, no-login writing tools at copy.ai/tools. We tested four of them for ad copy on 2026-10-21, and only one returned a usable ad.
Is Copy.ai good for ad copy?
It's not built for it any more. Copy.ai's homepage positions it as a GTM platform for prospecting, lead processing, content and deal coaching, and its help center says the old Tools and Templates were discontinued and replaced by Chat with a prompt library. In our test of its free ad tools on 2026-10-21, the Google Ads generator failed four runs out of four, the hook and CTA generators returned a prompt instead of copy, and the Facebook post writer worked. We didn't buy the paid Chat plan, so we can't grade its writing.
What is the difference between Copy.ai Chat and Growth?
Chat is a $29-a-month plan for up to 5 people to use a multi-model chat; the pricing page lists no workflow credits on it. Growth is a $12,000-a-year plan for up to 75 people with 20K workflow credits a month, for running Copy.ai Workflows, the multi-step automations behind its GTM use cases. There is no published plan between them. Copy.ai's help center still describes an Agents plan at $249 a month for up to 10 seats and 10K credits, but that article is marked stale and the plan isn't on the live pricing page.
What is Copy.ai's refund policy?
Copy.ai's help center offers a 5-day money-back guarantee from the date of your initial purchase. Cancelling doesn't trigger a refund automatically, cancellations take effect at the end of the billing cycle, and no refund is given if you've used the account in the same calendar month as the request. You also can't switch from yearly to monthly billing without contacting support. Pay monthly until you're sure.
How do Copy.ai workflow credits work?
A credit is a unit of computing work for a workflow run, and Copy.ai's pricing page says its value "depends on the complexity of the tasks performed"; the cost of each run is shown in the run's side panel. Per its help center, credits are pooled across the whole workspace, reset every month and don't roll over, test runs while building a workflow don't use credits, and "Platinum" actions cost more. Growth includes 20K credits a month, Expansion 45K and Scale 75K.
Did you test Copy.ai hands-on?
Partly. On 2026-10-21 we ran Copy.ai's free, public ad-copy tools seven times: the Ad Copy Generator for Google Ads four times on two websites, and the Hook Generator, Call to Action Generator and AI Facebook Post Writer once each. These run on Copy.ai Workflows, the engine its paid plans sell. We didn't buy the paid Chat plan or a Growth seat, so our view of those comes from Copy.ai's pricing page, help center and public reviews.
Is Copy.ai worth it?
For a team of 2 to 5 that mainly wants a multi-model chat, yes on price: $29 a month covers five people, cheaper than any per-seat chat plan. For revenue teams that want GTM workflows across prospecting and content, the annual plans are what Copy.ai is now built for. For ad copy specifically, it's a weak fit: nothing on its pricing page connects to ad platforms, its ad templates are gone, and its own free ad tools mostly failed in our test.
