Motion Alternatives
The best Motion alternatives in 2026 for creative analytics — ranked by what you are actually buying: ad-level reporting, creative inspiration, attribution, or a system that also makes and ships the creative. Verified pricing, checked 2026-09-02.
Which Motion is this? This page is about Motion the creative analytics platform for performance marketers, at motionapp.com — the one with the ad leaderboard, AI creative tagging and Slack reporting. It is not about Motion the AI calendar and task app at usemotion.com, which is a different company in a different category. If you came here looking for a scheduling tool, this is the wrong page.
Start With the Price Floor, Because It Decides Everything
Most comparison pages save pricing for the end. Here it has to come first, because Motion's pricing is the single fact that determines whether it is even a candidate for you.
Motion's entry plan is $750/month, and every plan is gated behind "Book a demo". Verified on motionapp.com/pricing 2026-09-02:
| Plan | Price | Tiered by |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $750/month | Up to $50k monthly ad spend |
| Pro | $1,200/month | Over $50k monthly ad spend |
| Growth | Custom ("Let's chat") | Over $125k monthly ad spend |
Two things follow from that table, and they are the whole decision.
First, Motion is priced on ad spend, not on seats. Starter includes unlimited seats and unlimited ad accounts. That is genuinely unusual and genuinely generous — a ten-person creative team pays the same as one person. If your constraint is headcount, almost nothing else in this category prices this well.
Second, the floor is high and flat. A brand spending $10k a month pays $750 — 7.5% of its media budget. A brand spending $49k a month pays the same $750 — 1.5%. Motion is excellent value at the top of a tier and poor value at the bottom of one, and there is no smaller plan to fall back to. If you spend under roughly $25k a month, the honest advice is that you are not Motion's customer yet, and most of the tools below will do the part you need.
What You Would Be Giving Up
Motion is good, and the reasons are specific:
- Ad-level creative reporting that actually resolves. Motion's core job is telling you which creative is working, not which campaign — an ad leaderboard rather than a campaign table. That distinction sounds small and is the entire reason the category exists.
- It pre-watches and tags everything. Motion analyses every creative you have already run and applies AI tags, so the reporting is queryable by creative attribute rather than only by ad ID. Building that tagging layer by hand is what most in-house attempts fail at.
- It lives in Slack. Briefs, hooks, reports and alerts arrive where the team already is, and routines run daily and weekly without anyone opening a dashboard.
- Unlimited seats and ad accounts on the entry plan, plus full data and MCP access — so it is not a walled garden.
If you spend enough for the floor to be reasonable and creative reporting is your actual gap, Motion is a strong purchase and this page will not change your mind.
The Ranked List
1. Foreplay — if what you needed was the inspiration and brief layer
Foreplay is the closest neighbour that is not priced like Motion. It is built around saving, organising and briefing ad creative — swipe files, competitor discovery via Spyder, briefs — with a reporting-adjacent layer rather than a reporting-first one.
Pricing, verified 2026-09-02: Basic is $59/month billed monthly, or $49/month billed annually, with 1 user included and $20 per additional user. The Workflow tier is $175/month monthly, or $149/month annually, with up to 5 users. Agency is $459/month monthly with up to 10 users, with annual billing advertised at a 15% saving. All tiers include API and MCP access, and a 7-day free trial with no card.
Choose it if the gap is "we do not have a system for finding and briefing creative". Do not choose it if the gap is "we do not know which of our live ads is working" — that is Motion's job, not Foreplay's. Our full write-up is at Foreplay alternatives.
2. Triple Whale — if the question is really about attribution
A lot of teams shopping for creative analytics are actually shopping for trustworthy numbers. If the argument in your company is "we do not agree on what a conversion is", a creative leaderboard will not settle it, because the leaderboard inherits whatever attribution you already distrust.
Triple Whale is the ecommerce-centric answer to that problem. Choose it if the disputed thing is measurement itself. Do not choose it if measurement is settled and the open question is which creative to make more of. See Triple Whale alternatives.
3. Madgicx — if you want the reporting to also act
Madgicx sits closer to the buying side: reporting plus automation that changes budgets and states rather than only surfacing what happened. It is a different philosophy from Motion's, which deliberately informs the human and stops.
Choose it if you want the system to take actions. Do not choose it if you specifically want a clean analysis layer with no hands on your account. See Madgicx alternatives.
4. Building it yourself on the platform APIs
Worth naming honestly, because Motion's price makes people consider it. Meta, Google and TikTok all expose ad-level metrics, so the reporting half is a solved engineering problem.
The half that is not solved is the tagging. Motion's value is that every creative is pre-watched and attributed with consistent tags, and that is where in-house builds stall — not at the API, but six months later when nobody has maintained the taxonomy. Build it only if you have a data team that will own the taxonomy as a product, not as a project.
5. Soku — if the reporting was supposed to change what you make next
This is the honest place to put ourselves, and it is a different shape from everything above.
Every tool on this list ends at an insight. Motion tells you that the hook in the first two seconds is what separates your winners from your losers, and then a human has to go and make more ads with that hook, and the loop takes another two weeks to close.
Soku generates the ad creative, deploys and tests it across Meta, Google and TikTok, reads the ad-account and GA4 data back, and ranks what it produced by outcome — so the insight and the production sit in the same system rather than in two tools with a person in between. It is free to start, which is the other real difference from a $750 floor.
Choose it if the reason you want creative analytics is to decide what to make next. Do not choose it if you have a large creative team already producing well and genuinely just need a reporting layer over it — Motion is better at that, and we would rather say so.
