Best Similarweb Alternatives for Ad and Competitor Intelligence (2026)

The best Similarweb alternatives, grouped by why teams leave: price, ad intelligence, first-party accuracy, API access, or acting on the research. Every price checked 2026-10-13.

Similarweb is the default answer to "how much traffic does that site get?" Its estimates cover websites, apps and, more recently, AI search, and its business packages reach up to 37 months of history across 100+ countries. Most teams who look for an alternative aren't unhappy with the idea. They leave because of what it costs to get the part they actually use, because ad intelligence sits in the most expensive self-serve bundle, because its numbers for their own site don't match their analytics, or because the data never turned into a campaign.

This list is grouped by those reasons, and each group recommends different tools. Similarweb's prices come from its Web Intelligence pricing page, read on 2026-10-13 from a US vantage. Every competitor price was read from that vendor's own pricing page on the same day. For Similarweb's full plan-by-plan table, including the API and data credits, see Similarweb pricing. For our test of its estimates against our own analytics, see the Similarweb review.

Why Teams Look for a Similarweb Alternative

Five documented reasons. Each one heads a group below.

  1. The entry price buys one slice. Similarweb's cheapest Web Intelligence plan, Competitive Intelligence, is $125 a month billed annually or $199 monthly, for 1 user and 3 months of history. SEO tools start in the next tier at $333, and anything beyond the self-serve cards is "talk to sales."
  2. Ad intelligence is bundled at the top. Creative and campaign insights, search and display insights, advertiser demand signals and ad spend appear only in the Competitive Intel, SEO & AEO & Ads plan, at $542 a month billed annually or $649 monthly. There's no ads-only self-serve card.
  3. The numbers for your own site don't match. Similarweb models traffic from a panel, partner data and sites that share their analytics. Its own help center has an article on why your Google Analytics will differ. If what you need is your own traffic, a model is the wrong tool.
  4. You need data in code, not a dashboard. The API and MCP access live in custom business packages; the pricing FAQ says to contact sales and select "API." Data credits, which every API call draws on, have no published dollar price.
  5. Research was never the bottleneck. Knowing a competitor's channel mix doesn't launch a campaign. Some teams need a tool that acts on the research.

Original Element: What Each Tool Actually Measures

We pulled Similarweb's estimates for our own domain, soku.ai, on 2026-10-13 and compared them with our Google Search Console data. The full method and caveats are in the review; the short version: over July to September 2026, Similarweb put organic search at 14,995 visits against 6,997 Google clicks in Search Console, about 2.1 times higher, and it showed August organic search falling 58% while Search Console showed Google clicks rising 90%. That's one small site, but it's the reason the table below matters more than a feature list. Every third-party tool here estimates other people's traffic. Only your own analytics measures yours.

The Alternatives, Grouped by Why You're Leaving

Group 1: You Want Traffic and Channel Data at a Published Price

You use Similarweb to size competitors and see where their visits come from, and the Competitive Intelligence plan is either too thin or too expensive for what you check.

1. Semrush Traffic & Market

The closest like-for-like. Semrush's Traffic & Market pricing page lists one plan, Pro, at $289 a month, showing the same price on its monthly and annual toggles on 2026-10-13. It includes Traffic Overview, Market Landscape, Acquisition Channel Mix, Traffic & Market AI Insights, Top Pages & Conversions and Competitor Alerts, with worldwide data and up to 100 competitors to analyze. Additional users are "contact us."

Pick it if: you already use Semrush for SEO and want traffic estimates in the same account.

Skip it if: you only need a handful of lookups a month. At $289 it costs more than Similarweb's annual entry plan.

2. Semrush SEO plans, for organic-only estimates

If what you really watch is a competitor's search traffic, Semrush's main pricing page lists the SEO plan at $139 a month, or $117.33 a month billed annually, and Starter at $199 ($165.17 annually), both with competitor analysis tools. A free plan gives 10 reports a day across core tools with no card.

Pick it if: organic search is the channel you compete on.

Skip it if: you need direct, referral and social traffic too. That's the Traffic & Market toolkit above.

3. Ahrefs

Ahrefs' pricing page lists Lite at $129 a month, Standard at $249 and Advanced at $449, with Enterprise at $1,499 a month on an annual commitment and up to 17% off for paying annually. Lite includes 5 projects, 6 months of history, 750 tracked keywords and API and MCP access for 1 user. It's a search and backlink tool, not a whole-site traffic panel.

Pick it if: your competitors win on SEO and you want backlink and keyword depth.

Skip it if: you need channel mix or app data.

Group 2: You Need Competitor Ads Without the $542 Bundle

Similarweb's ad intelligence only comes in its top self-serve plan. These tools sell ad research on its own.

1. Semrush Advertising toolkit

Semrush's Advertising toolkit page and plan article list Base at $99 a month and Pro at $220 a month, with a 7-day free trial. Base covers competitor search campaigns, Google Shopping research and an Ads Launch Assistant for Google and Meta. Pro adds AdClarity for display, video and social ads, limited to 1 geo, 3 months of history, 50 reports and 1 channel at a time.

Pick it if: you want search and social ad research for less than half of Similarweb's ads bundle.

Skip it if: you need AdClarity across several channels at once; Pro's limits are tight.

2. SpyFu

SpyFu's pricing page lists Basic at $39 a month or $29 billed annually, Pro + AI at $59 for the first month then $119, or $89 billed annually, and Team/Agency at $249 or $187 annually. It records the Google ads and rankings it captures, with 10+ years of history on the paid plans. Our guide to competitor PPC keywords covers how to use it alongside free Google tools.

Pick it if: Google search ads are where your competitors spend.

Skip it if: they spend on Meta, TikTok or display.

3. Adbeat

Adbeat's pricing page lists Standard at $249 a month and Advanced at $399 a month on monthly billing, with Enterprise priced on a call. It covers display, programmatic and native ads across 145 networks, DSPs and exchanges. Standard includes 90 days of data and 1,000 results per search; estimated ad spend is Enterprise-only.

Pick it if: your competitors buy display and native, and you want placements and landing pages.

Skip it if: your market is search or social.

4. The free ad libraries

The Meta Ad Library and the Google Ads Transparency Center show competitors' live ads at no cost, without spend or traffic. Our best ad spy tools roundup compares them with the paid tools built on top of them.

Pick it if: you want to see creative, not model budgets.

Skip it if: you need numbers.

Group 3: You Want Exact Numbers for Your Own Site

If you bought Similarweb partly to benchmark yourself, the benchmark side is the weakest use of a model. Your own tools measure it.

1. Google Analytics 4

Free. It measures sessions, channels and conversions on your site directly. Similarweb's own help center has an article on why its numbers differ from Google Analytics. If you use Soku, the GA4 integration lets the agent read your account.

Pick it if: the question is about your traffic.

Skip it if: the question is about anyone else's.

2. Google Search Console

Free. It records your Google clicks, impressions and queries. It's what we checked Similarweb's organic estimates against in the review.

Pick it if: you want to know what Google actually sends you.

Skip it if: you need non-Google channels; it only sees Google.

Group 4: You Need the Data in Code or in an AI Assistant

Similarweb's API, MCP and data feeds sit inside custom packages, and data credits have no published dollar price.

1. DataForSEO

DataForSEO's pricing page is pay-as-you-go with a $50 minimum top-up, no subscription, and a $1 trial credit for new accounts. Its Labs API, which covers keyword, competitor and market data, is listed at $0.012 per task plus $0.00012 per item. It's SERP and keyword data, not a clickstream panel, so it won't give you a competitor's direct or social traffic.

Pick it if: you're building your own reports and want every cost on a public rate card.

Skip it if: you want visits and channel mix.

2. Similarweb data through Soku Connect

Soku's Similarweb connector exposes a set of Similarweb endpoints as tools for an AI assistant in ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Cursor: visits and engagement, modelled PPC spend, marketing channels, rank, similar sites, ad networks, keyword competitors and more. Each call is quoted before it runs and charged at the gateway's cost. On 2026-10-13, our own two calls for soku.ai cost $0.45 (a six-month visits trend) and $1.58 (three months of channel data). It needs a paid Soku plan; Soku's pricing lists Creator at $19 a month or $180 a year.

Honest limits, from the connector page itself: reports are worldwide or US only, with no per-country drill-down; most endpoints reach back about three closed months; and PPC spend is one modelled monthly total, not keyword-level.

Pick it if: you ask a few competitor questions a month and want them answered inside an AI chat.

Skip it if: you need country-level reports, long history or the full Similarweb API. The connector page says so too: buy Similarweb directly for that.

Group 5: The Research Was Never the Bottleneck

Some teams pull a competitor's channel mix every quarter, and the deck sits there. The slow part is turning it into campaigns and testing them.

1. Semrush Advertising toolkit (Base)

At $99 a month, Base pairs competitor search ad research with an Ads Launch Assistant that creates, launches and manages ads on Google and Meta, including 100 AI-generated Google ad copies and 100 Meta ad copies a month. It's the most direct research-plus-launch option from a research vendor.

Pick it if: you run Google and Meta and want research and launching from one vendor.

Skip it if: you need more channels or more than 100 AI ad copies a month per channel.

2. Soku

This option works differently from everything above. Soku is an AI marketing agent, not a traffic database. The same chat that pulls a competitor's Similarweb numbers can write ad copy, generate images and video, and launch and A/B-test campaigns on Meta, Google, TikTok and ChatGPT Ads through your own accounts, with actions held for your approval. Soku's pricing: Free at $0 with 2,000 credits to start; Creator at $19 a month (7,000 credits); Starter at $49 (20,000 credits, up to 5 brands and 5 members); Pro at $249 (200,000 credits). Similarweb calls need a paid plan (read from Soku's pricing source, 2026-10-13).

What Soku is not, next to Similarweb: no dashboards, no per-country reports, no app, retail or stock intelligence, no long history, and its competitor numbers are the same Similarweb estimates with the same blind spots.

Pick it if: you run paid media and what's missing is campaigns built from the research.

Skip it if: your deliverable is the research itself, such as market sizing or investor analysis.

When to Stay on Similarweb

Stay if most of these are true:

  1. You need breadth. Web, apps, AI search, retail and stock data from one vendor is something none of the tools above match.
  2. You need countries and history. Business packages list 100+ countries, daily-level data and up to 37 months of history. Self-serve plans and the Soku connector don't come close.
  3. You report on markets, not one site. Market share, category rankings and audience overlap are where a large panel earns its keep, and where small-site noise matters least.
  4. You calibrate. You treat the figures as relative and check them against sites whose real numbers you know, starting with your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best alternative to Similarweb?

It depends on why you're leaving. For the same kind of traffic and channel estimates at a single published price, Semrush's Traffic & Market toolkit is $289 a month. For competitor ads without Similarweb's top bundle ($542 a month billed annually), Semrush's Advertising toolkit is $99 or $220 a month, SpyFu starts at $39, and Adbeat at $249. For your own site, Google Analytics and Search Console are free and exact. For programmatic access without a sales call, DataForSEO is pay-as-you-go from a $50 top-up. Prices read on each vendor's page on 2026-10-13.

Is there a free alternative to Similarweb?

For your own website, yes: Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console are free and measure your traffic directly instead of estimating it. For competitors, the free options are narrower. Semrush has a free plan with 10 reports a day, the Meta Ad Library and Google Ads Transparency Center show competitors' ads at no cost, and Similarweb's own website shows a high-level sample of its data, which its pricing FAQ describes as a limited set of features without deeper drill-downs.

Is Semrush better than Similarweb?

They overlap on traffic estimates and differ on packaging. Semrush sells traffic and market data as one Traffic & Market Pro plan at $289 a month, separate from its SEO plans (from $139 a month) and its Advertising toolkit ($99 or $220). Similarweb's self-serve Web Intelligence plans start at $125 a month billed annually ($199 monthly) for competitive intelligence, and ad intelligence is only in its top self-serve bundle at $542 a month billed annually. Both are estimates of other people's traffic; neither replaces your own analytics.

How accurate is Similarweb for small websites?

We tested it on our own domain. For soku.ai, Similarweb's organic search estimate for July to September 2026 totalled 14,995 visits against 6,997 Google clicks recorded in Search Console, about 2.1 times higher, but the monthly pattern was wrong: Similarweb showed organic search falling 58% in August while Search Console showed Google clicks rising 90%. It returned no estimate at all for April and May. Treat small-site figures as rough. Details are in our Similarweb review.

Does Similarweb have an API, and what does it cost?

Yes. Similarweb's pricing FAQ says the API is part of its customized business packages or can be bought as a standalone product, and that you get pricing by contacting sales and selecting 'API' in the form. API use draws on data credits, which Similarweb's help center says are consumed per result and renew on the 1st of each month. No dollar price for the API or for a data credit is published.

Is Soku a Similarweb replacement?

Not as a platform. Soku has no traffic dashboards, no per-country reports, no 37-month history and no Similarweb-style SEO or app suites. What it has is a Similarweb data connector: on a paid Soku plan, an AI assistant can call a set of Similarweb endpoints (visits, channels, modelled PPC spend, similar sites and more) per question, worldwide or US only, for roughly the last three closed months. Soku is an AI marketing agent, so the same conversation can go on to write, launch and test ads. If you need occasional competitor lookups that lead to campaigns, it can cover that. If you need Similarweb's full dataset, buy Similarweb.
